The grades of nickel titanium alloy (NiTi, also known as Nitinol) are mainly divided according to nickel content, phase transition temperature, and added elements. The core is modified grades such as TiNi xx series, NiTiCu/NiTiNb, as well as international standard grades such as ASTM F2063.

1、 Basic brand (TiNi series, commonly used in China)

Using the transformation temperature (Af, austenite end temperature) as the core identification:

grade

Phase transition temperature Af

Key Features

Typical Applications
TiNi-0120℃–40℃

Room temperature hyperelasticity and memory balance

Orthodontic archwire, eyeglass frame, ordinary bracket
TiNi-0245℃–90℃

High temperature memory, high resilience

Temperature controlled switches, thermal components, industrial fixtures
TiNi-SS5℃–15℃

Low temperature hyperelasticity and low hysteresis

Low temperature sensors, precision elastic components
TiNi-YY33℃±3℃

Body temperature matching, biocompatibility

Vascular stents, orthopedic implants, interventional devices
TiNi-03<5℃

Extremely low temperature hyperelasticity

Low temperature sealing, aerospace low-temperature mechanism

2、 Modified alloy grade (with added third element)

Optimizing phase transformation, elasticity, and corrosion resistance by adding Cu, Nb, Fe, Cr, etc.:

(1)NiTiCu(TiNiCu)

Composition: Ni Ti Cu (Cu 5% -15%)

Features: minimal phase transition lag (As Ms ≤ 5 ℃), fast response, good stability

Usage: Micro temperature control valve, precision actuator, optical focusing

(2)NiTiNb(TiNiNb)

Composition: Ni Ti Nb (Nb 10% -30%)

Features: Wide phase temperature range (As Ms < 150 ℃), high plasticity, good low-temperature toughness

Usage: Pipeline connectors, large deformation seals, low-temperature engineering

(3)NiTiFe / NiTiCr

Features: Improve strength, wear resistance, corrosion resistance, and reduce costs

Usage: Industrial springs, wear-resistant structural components, marine environmental components

3、 International standard grades (ASTM/EN)

ASTM F2063: Medical Implant Grade Nickel Titanium Alloy Standard, requiring high purity and low impurities (C/H/O/N strictly controlled), used for vascular stents, orthopedic instruments, and orthodontic wires.

Nitinol 55/Nitinol 60: Named according to the mass percentage of nickel (55% Ni/45% Ti, 60% Ni/40% Ti), used as a universal memory/hyperelastic component in the fields of aviation, machinery, and electronics.

SM100: High precision memory alloy with precise and controllable phase transition temperature, used for aviation actuators and micro elastic components.

4、 Key points for brand selection

(1)Phase transition temperature (Af): determines whether it is a shape memory type (Af>operating temperature, heat recovery) or a hyperelastic type (Af<operating temperature, rebound upon unloading).

(2)Application scenario: Medical selection of TiNi YY/ASTM F2063; Choose TiNi-02/NiTiCu for temperature control; Choose TiNiNb for low temperature/large deformation.

(3)Performance balance: Cu hysteresis reduction, Nb plasticity, Fe/Cr strength enhancement, can be selected according to demand.
