Memory alloy fiber steel wire rope (most commonly made of nickel titanium memory alloy material) is an intelligent flexible component made by twisting memory alloy wires according to the twisting process of steel wire rope (such as 7 × 7, 1 × 7 structures). It combines the tensile and flexible properties of steel wire rope, as well as the two core characteristics of shape memory and super elasticity.
I、 Core principle
1. Shape memory effect: Under low temperature/external force, it exhibits a soft martensitic phase and can undergo significant deformation; Heating to the phase transition temperature (usually designed near human body temperature or ambient temperature) will automatically restore the original shape of the austenite phase;
2. Superelasticity (pseudo elasticity): Above the phase transition temperature, it can withstand strains far exceeding those of ordinary metals (up to 8% -10%), and the unloading energy can be fully restored without permanent residual deformation, and a large amount of energy can be absorbed during the deformation process.
II、 Manufacturing process and structure
1. First, obtain a single memory alloy filament through vacuum melting, hot/cold processing, and heat treatment shaping;
2. Precision twisting shall be carried out according to the standard steel wire rope structure (such as multi strand twisting: the central wire+multiple side wires form a strand, and then multiple strands are twisted into a rope);
3. The key step is shape setting heat treatment to make the steel wire rope "remember" the preset initial shape; The surface can be coated (such as medical grade passivation, PTFE) to enhance corrosion resistance or biocompatibility.

V、 Limitations and Precautions
1. The cost is much higher than that of ordinary steel wire rope, which limits its popularity in general scenarios;
2. The mechanical properties are significantly affected by temperature and require precise matching with the operating temperature range;
3. Long term exposure to high temperature or strong stress may lead to phase transition fatigue or performance degradation;
4. The nickel element in nickel titanium alloys may pose an allergic risk to a very small number of people (medical products need to be strictly controlled and tested).
