The current core standards for nickel titanium memory sheets are GB/T 39985-2021 (national standard, universal), GB/T 24627-2023 (national standard, medical implant), YS/T 1076-2015 (industry standard, universal), and internationally commonly used ASTM F2063.


1、 Core standard system

(1) General industrial board: GB/T 39985-2021 (implemented on December 1, 2021)

Applicable: industrial/general medical plates such as eyeglass frames, orthopedic implants, springs, etc.

Composition (mass fraction): Ni 54.5%~57.0%, residual Ti; Impurities: C ≤ 0.07%, H<0.005%, O+N<0.4%.

TiNi-01: Binary NiTi, Memory/Superelasticity

TiNi-02:NiTi-Cr(0.2%~0.6%)

TiNi-03:NiTi-V(0.4%~0.8%)

Specification (mm):

Thickness: 0.3~60 (Cold rolling 0.3~4; Hot rolling>4~60)

Width: 100~500; Length: 300~1000

Mechanical properties (after heat treatment: ≥ 800 ℃ insulation for ≥ 15 minutes, rapid cooling):

Tensile strength: ≥ 551MPa

Elongation rate: ≥ 15% (≤ 50mm); ≥10%(>50~60mm)

Key tolerances (allowable thickness deviation, mm):

  • 0.3~0.5:±0.05

  • >0.5~0.8:±0.07

  • >0.8~1.1:±0.09

  • >1.1~1.5:±0.11

  • >1.5~2.0:±0.15


(2)Medical implant board: GB/T 24627-2023 (implemented on January 1, 2025, replacing GB 24627-2009)

Applicable: Surgical implants (such as stents, bone plates), rolled materials with a thickness of 5.5-94mm; Other medical devices can be referred to.

Composition: Ni 54.5%~57.0% (same as GB/T 39985), but with strict control of impurities and surface cleanliness.

Core differences: stricter requirements for biocompatibility, surface quality, and non-destructive testing, equivalent to using ASTM F2063-18.


(3) Industry basic standards

YS/T 1064-2015 "Terminology for Nickel Titanium Shape Memory Alloys": defines core terms such as phase transition temperature, superelasticity, and memory effect.

ASTM F2063-18: International General Standard for Medical Grade NiTi Processing Materials, often benchmarked for domestic medical products.

2、 Key Technical Requirements (Abstract of GB/T 39985-2021)

(1)Supply status

Hot working state (R), cold working state (Y), annealed state (M)

Characteristics: Memory (SM), Super Elasticity (SE)


(2)Appearance quality

Surface: alkali pickling/sandblasting/bright; No cracks, peeling, oxidation, or folding

Allow slight scratches, indentations (within thickness tolerance), and no delamination


(3)Organization and Grain Size

Low magnification: no cracks, pores, inclusions, segregation

Grain size: not coarser than grade 4 (GB/T 6394)


(4)Phase transition temperature

According to the buyer's agreement, test according to YS/T 970 or YY/T 0641


3、 Selection suggestions

General industrial/non implantable medical: GB/T 39985-2021

Surgical implantation/high-risk medical treatment: GB/T 24627-2023 (benchmarked against ASTM F2063)

Contract must specify: brand, status, specifications, characteristics, phase transition temperature, and execution standards.
